No, this isn't Steve Urkel of "Family Matters", but the real Steve Erkel, a filmmaker out of the Sacramento area, who's been working in Hollywood for over 25 years.  In fact this Steve Erkel's name was the inspiration for the Steve Urkel on "Family Matters".  Michael Warren, producer on "Family Matters" and his writer co-producer Bill Bickley were stuck late one night for coming up with the name of a guest character, a nerd, who was to appear on the show just one time.  They wanted a name that was distinctively different.  That's when they remembered Steve Erkel a writer-director-producer friend of theirs, not a nerd, but who had a quirky sounding last name.  The figured what's the harm using a similar sounding name for a character in just one TV episode.  Of course the rest is history. 

In fact, the Steve Erkel is a very accomplished writer, director, and filmmaker.  He's directed numerous films.  He's also an editor much in demand.  He's done editing work on three other features besides "Fall of Night", numerous shorts, and many reality type TV shows...
